GENERAL GUIDELINES

PERSONAL APPEARANCE

All students are required to be well groomed at all times while in the premises of the Institute. Attend all the classes, practical sessions and training programmes in specified uniforms only with black formal shoes polished and fingernails trimmed and clean. Boys are required to be clean shaved and keep hair neat and tidy. Girls with long hair are required to keep it tied up or well combed in a bun or plait.

COSTUME TO BE FOLLOWED BEFORE THE UNIFORM IS ISSUED

BOYS

  • Plain black formal shoe with lace, low heels
  • Black belt – formal, no fancy buckles
  • Formal trousers
  • Formal Plain light colored shirt
  • Formal tie

GIRLS

  • Black Slip-ons (shoes) low heels
  • Formal churidars

Students should wear normal wrist watches with leather strap. Smart watches are not allowed..

Hairstyle

  • Well maintained conservative hair styles
  • Regularly trimmed (No overgrown hair, should not be too short too)
  • Free from dandruff
  • Not to fall on the forehead
  • Above the collar from back
  • Sideburns not longer than middle of the ear, not shorter than the upper tip of the ear lobe.
  • Hair color not to be used

Nails

  • Trimmed and well-maintained
  • Neatly cut, clean and dirt free,
  • No nicotine, carbon, ink stains.

Uniform

  • Immaculate, spotless & well ironed with no unnecessary creases
  • Appear fresh and not faded
  • No loose threads or broken buttons
  • Cuffs & collars clean & stain free
  • Uniform to be changed daily
  • Always wear a vest
  • Identity cards to be worn at all times prominently
  • Pen, keys and other accessories should not be visible
  • Turbans – only black or navy blue.

Shoes

  • Well maintained, well polished, in good repair
  • Uniform shoes, oxford, no loafers
  • Color should be black

Socks

  • No pattern, to be black, dark blue or dark brown
  • Odourless & clean
  • Elastic intact.

Belts

  • Black color
  • Always in good repair without cracks
  • No flashy buckles
  • Not more than 1.5″ Wide

Wrist watches

  • Leather or metal straps only
  • Black, brown or tan in leather
  • Silver or gold color in metal
  • Not too flashy dials
  • Should not be loose & hanging

Jewellery

  • No bracelets
  • No ornamental strings
  • No ear piercing
  • Only one simple ring on any one hand (only in ring finger)

Hairstyle

  • Short hair: High pony
  • Regularly trimmed
  • Hair to be kept away from the face using black accessories
  • Always neatly combed & in place
  • Clear not greasy, free of oil & dandruff

  • Do not use coloured/plastic bands
  • Keep permed/curly hair neat & restrained.
  • SHORT HAIR-Trimmed regularly & styled away from the face Black pins to be used if required to keep hair neat and in place.
  • MEDIUM / LONG HAIRSTYLE-
  • Trimmed regularly.
  • Neatly pinned into a French knot or prescribed styles to keep away from face using black accessories.

Make Up

  • Use foundation to avoid oily look
  • Lipstick should be matte finish (Neutral color)
  • should match uniform colour,matching lip liner
  • Nail paint should be natural or (Neutral color)
  • Bindis if worn, should be round or tear shaped in sober color which matches the uniform
  • Eye Shadow- Use darker shade over the eyelids and lighter shade below the eyebrow.
  • Eyeliner-Applied after eye shadow and before mascara ,thin, straight, applied neatly.
  • Mascara-Start by applying mascara to the upper eyelashes, brush downward and then upward.
  • Blusher-Use a shade that tones well with your skin color.

Nails

  • Well Maintained and clean.
  • Neatly cut, shaped & clean.
  • No excessively long nails.
  • Only prescribed nail polish colors. (Netural Shades)
  • Cover entire nails, with no gaps or cracks.
  • Toe Nails:-
    • Nail Polish should match finger nail polish.
    • Not cracked.

How to reach Calicut (Kozhikode)

Calicut is well connected to major cities in India by Air, Rail and Road. The Calicut International Airport is located at Karipur, 25 Kms. south-east of the city. Tourist taxi charges about Rs 1,000 from airport to Calicut town. Regular flights are available to Mumbai, Bangalore, Chennai, Goa, Madurai, and Coimbatore. The nearby airports are Cochin, Coimbatore and Mangalore. Direct trains are available from Calicut to the major cities in India which include New Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata, Hyderabad, Bangalore, Chennai, Gowhatti, Ahmedabad, Indore, Gorakhpur, Trichy, Mangalore, Varanasi, Jammu Tawi and Trivandrum. The Calicut bound trains take deviation from the main Chennai-Cochin route from Palghat Junction. By road, Calicut is connected to Mumbai via Mangalore and Goa (NH17). Bangalore is connected via Mysore, Gundalpet Sultan Bathery, Kalpetta and Mysore (NH 212). Chennai is via Malappuram, Palghat, Coimbatore and Salem (NH 213 and NH47), and Ooty is via Nilambur and Gudalur (State Highway). SELECTION

The Selection Procedure for Admission In Hotel Management and other courses is based on the written test, group discussion, and personal interview. Selected candidates will be informed of the results individually within one day from the date of the test. In case students do not receive any communication within 15 days after appearing for the test they can send a fax or E-mail to the administrative office with their hall ticket number for the result.

Selection under Merit quota for BHMCT course is based on a written test and interview to be conducted by the University of Calicut at the Institute on a date notified by the University.

TEST

Written test is of objective type. The subjects for the test are aptitude in English language, General Knowledge and Numerical Ability. Candidates can use pen or pencil to answer the questions.

GROUP DISCUSSION

Group discussion is to test the student’s extempore participation in a discussion on a topic, with a minimum duration of 7 minutes but not exceeding 10 minutes. Students are tested for topic knowledge, interaction and command over the language.

PERSONAL INTERVIEW

A short Interview will be conducted to assess the student on communication skill, general appearance and etiquette. Candidates are required to appear for group discussion and interview on the same day. Students are required to complete the written test and wait for their turn to complete group discussion and personal interview.
